Rob VK6WHO and his team in Australia
The team will be using the callsign VK80MAN and operating from various locations from April the 24th until May 10th.
Rob who is the Vice President of the Western Australia VHF Group is running the Stations in Australia. We first met Rob when he was one of the organisers in Australia for the VK80LAN special event Callsign to commemorate the first use of the Lancaster Bomber in WW2. Stations operated in the U.K. Canada and Australia for this special event. It was great to work with him then and we are looking forward to doing so again.
Peel Amateur Radio group will operate the callsign on Anzac day Friday April 25th from Kings Park Perth. We really appreciate the Western Australian Returned Services League for allowing the Station at the Anzac day Commemorations.
It is really fitting to commemorate the Australian airmen especially the legendary 460 squadron who played such a huge part in Bomber command in WW2 and in operation Manna on Anzac day. It will be great to link the former Australian base at Binbrook and the International Bomber Command Centre with Australia on this special day by radio.
On the 26th and 27th the Station will operate from the Bull Creek Aviation Heritage Centre Perth.
Founded in 1982, the Peel Amateur Radio Group (PARG) is a not for profit volunteer hobby group whose aim is to bring amateur radio and electronic enthusiasts together, here in Western Australia.
PARG is a dynamic and friendly group which is keen to welcome new members and interested visitors.
Although the PARG focuses on the Peel area – from Kwinana in the north, through to Waroona in the south, incorporating the cities of Rockingham and Mandurah, we have members all over Australia. We also work closely with other groups – the Southern Electronics Group and Hills Amateur Radio Group in particular – a number of our members are also members of those groups, and vice versa.
